Frequently Asked Questions

  • Please store out of direct sunlight, in a cool place away from electronic devices.

  • Homeopathic medicines are considered safe to use from newborn, pregnancy and of all ages and will typically not contraindicate the medicines prescribed by your doctor.

  • The potencies of the medicines in Omana Homeopathy’s kits are usually stronger than those bought in a health food store or online. In a First Aid prescription, these stronger potencies are often much more effective. As these medicines are strong, they are not to be used for prolonged periods of time, except under the guidance of a trained homeopath.

These remedies are kept in a high concentration of alcohol, which will preserve them for a minimum of two years.

  • When choosing a remedy, first note the important symptoms experienced by the patient and then select a medicine with a similar “symptom picture”. A very small dose of this remedy is then administered to stimulate healing. Homeopathic medicines are considered safe to use and generally will not contraindicate the medicines prescribed by your doctor.

With homeopathy, the aim is to match the frequency of dosing with the intensity of the condition. For intense conditions such as a fever or a burn, dosing frequently such as every 15 mins to an hour is ideal. For moderate conditions, dosing every 4 hours is preferred. As the condition starts to improve, slow down or consider stopping dosing. If you find yourself forgetting to administer the remedy, this is usually an indication that symptoms are improving and regular dosing is no longer required.

The guidelines are for the treatment of simple and acute complaints. In the case of serious accidents or emergencies, seek medical attention immediately.

  • This is a universal guide only - please refer to your reference booklet for your guidance.

Dosing in homeopathy is standard for infants, children, adults and the elderly. Homeopathy is not like pharmaceutical dosing where an infant can tolerate less. The importance in homeopathy is placed upon the frequency of doses - as every dose will stimulate the vital force to trigger a healing response in the body.

To take a dose, remove the cap of the selected medicine bottle and place 1-2 drops (if extra this is ok too) into another clean ~ glass is preferable but not essential ~ bottle that contains approximately 500ml of water (whatever suits your families use). Seal and shake this new bottle vigorously as this will medicate the medicine throughout the water, which can then be sipped for each subsequent dose. This is particularly effective for conditions where repeated dosing is required. Repeat this process of preparing a fresh bottle each day, if required.

You may choose to prepare a dose into a glass jar and store this if you are using a remedy quite frequently over a week. This is fine - monitor the water to ensure it looks clean and no dark marks appear.

Now that you have dispensed your stock liquid into water – every sip from that bottle is considered a potent dose that will be recognised by your body. If you have an infant who cannot swallow much liquid, the best practice is to put a drop or two of stock liquid of the selected remedy into a small glass or bottle of water and from here syringe or spoon tiny doses into the mouth. Aim to get enough water in to wet the mouth, though it does not need to be enough to swallow. Repeat doses for infants as you would for adults – every 15 minutes for intense conditions and every 4 hourly or daily for more moderate conditions.

  • We recommend that you do not add to milk, juice, or breast milk. In this case and especially with infants, please create the remedy in the bottle as advised above. Shake and take a syringe or teaspoon to dose directly into their mouth. Again, enough to just wet the mouth is considered a good dose.

  • Frequency of dosing is more important than the quantity of the remedy in Homeopathy. Enough to wet the mouth is considered a good dose - especially for newborn babies and children.

  • You can dose a couple of drops directly under the tongue. This means the doses won’t go as far as if diluted and sipped from a water bottle so keep that in mind for longevity of your kit.

For moderate conditions, dosing every four hours is preferred. As the condition starts to improve, slow down or consider stopping dosing.
